Activating Existing Custom Domain (website)

Created by Hope Nwaegeruo, Modified on Wed, 19 Apr 2023 at 09:32 PM by Bumpa Support

When you subscribe to a premium plan on Bumpa, you have the option to connect your existing website (domain) name into the platform. This means that instead of using the default Bumpa store URL (e.g. yourbusinesname.bumpa.shop), you can use your own preferred "custom" domain name (e.g. example.yourbusinessname.ng) to access your store.

To make this integration possible, you will need to create new records on your domain registrar. The domain registrar is the company where you purchased your domain name (e.g. GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).

To point your domain to Bumpa, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your domain registrar account.
  2. Find the DNS (Domain Name System) settings for your domain name.
  3. Add two new records: an A record and a CNAME record
    • For the A record, the hostname or name should be ‘@’, and the address should be 52.47.210.130
    • For the -CNAME record, the hostname should be ‘www’, and the address should be your custom domain name (e.g. example. ng)
  4. Save the changes to your DNS settings.

Once you have added these records, email your custom domain name and your Bumpa store URL (e.g. yourbusinessname.bumpa.shop) to [email protected] or via the in-app chat feature. This will notify the Bumpa team to verify that your domain is correctly pointed to their platform.

Note that it may take up to 72 hours for the changes to take effect and for your custom domain to start redirecting to your Bumpa store. Once the domain name change is complete, you will be notified by the Bumpa team.
